The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested four members of a suspected terror cell allegedly operating at the behest of Pakistani handlers and planning attacks on key facilities, including railway infrastructure, officials said on Friday (April 3, 2026).
“The Uttar Pradesh ATS received information that the group was in constant contact with the Pakistani handler through various social media platforms and was carrying out anti-national activities. The main objective of the gang was to conduct surveillance of important military installations, railway infrastructure, police stations and political figures in the country, provide the information obtained to the Pakistani handler and then plan and damage them,” an official statement said.
“The above intelligence was developed and Saqib alias ‘Devil’, a resident of Meerut district, who was in touch with handlers through encrypted platforms like Telegram, Signal and Instagram and had links with radical groups, was arrested,” the statement added.
Besides Saqib, the arrested persons were identified as Vikas Gehlawat alias Raunak, Lokesh alias Papla Pandit alias Babu alias Sanju, both residents of Gautam Buddh Nagar and Arbaab of Meerut.
