
Bharati Hiremath, Coordinator, Department of International Relations, Maharaja’s College, University of Mysore, participated in the BRICS International Conference on Strategic Communication in Global Governance held on October 31 in Moscow. The event was organized by the UNESCO Department, the Philosophical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The conference focused on the importance of strategic communication in promoting the goals of BRICS and strengthening cooperation between its member countries.
Prof. Hiremath shared her thoughts on “BRICS Plus and Sustainable Growth of the Global South: Challenges and the Way Forward”. She highlighted key issues such as women’s representation in legislation, traditional medicine, indigenous culture and the importance of digital and financial literacy.
Prof. Hiremath also proposed the creation of a “sustainable health corridor” between the BRICS countries. On the sidelines of the conference, prof. Hiremath met Vinay Kumar, Ambassador of India to the Russian Federation, a press release said.
Prof. Hiremath, who is also a member of the BRICS Expert Council, had earlier represented India at the 16th BRICS Academic Forum in Moscow.
