The Ministry of the Interior of the Union (MHA) approved the first cadre overview of Border Security Force (BSF) staff.
BSF said on Wednesday (August 13, 2025) that the Indian government approved the review of the BSF B and C employee cadre, from Constable to the Inspector and its implementation. “The implementation will apply to the total immediate promotion of 23,710 employees.
Since the establishment of force in 1965, this has been the first time that such a review has been carried out, said the BSF official. In the absence of a review, many constables left for one or two promotional events, against the expected five actions until the rank of the commander’s assistant in several cases.
BSF is deployed along the borders of Pakistan and Bangladesh. It is also deployed for internal safety obligations and operations in the state affected by the extremism of the left wing (LWE).
This review is expected to improve the promotion route from Constable to the inspector and provide considerable staff relief from the existing stagnation, increasing the overall morality and professional development of power staff, BSF said.
In order to solve the question of stagnation among junior ranks in central armed police forces (CAPF), MHA sanctioned the process of awarding another higher “honest rank” of retirement of CAPF staff. The badge would not mean any financial benefits, MHA said okay. On the day of their retirement, honesty would be assigned to constables, main constabs, auxiliary sub-insectors and sub-inspectors.
