Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri temple authorities have announced elaborate arrangements for ‘Ugadi’, ‘Sri Rama Navami’ and ‘Vasantha Navaratri’ celebrations along with new parking regulations to handle the heavy rush of devotees.
According to temple officials, special rituals will be performed on the occasion of Ugadi on Thursday (March 19). The day will begin early in the morning with ceremonial rituals to the presiding deity and other temple deities, followed by decorations, offerings and opening darshan for devotees at 8 am.
Special programs will be held throughout the day, including the installation of sacred vessels, floral offerings, traditional almanac readings and ritual ceremonies. A procession of silver chariots will also go through the key streets around the temple in the evening.
Meanwhile, keeping in mind the heavy rush during weekends and festival days, new parking rules have been introduced as per the instructions of the Home Ministry. Under the new guidelines, vehicles of top dignitaries such as judges and ministers will be allowed to enter the donor cell area, while MPs, MLAs and other VIPs must park at the reception. All other vehicles must be parked at the designated OM turning point.
Special battery powered vehicles will be provided free of cost from OM Turning point to the elderly, differently abled and other devotees requiring assistance.
Traffic on the Ghat Road will be limited to one lane during peak hours. Permanent temple priests and local media workers will be allowed to park their two-wheelers in a regulated manner, while all other employees and contractors must park their vehicles in a designated area. The implementation of these rules will be monitored by the police and temple security personnel.
Vasantha Navaratri celebrations will be held from March 19 to 28, during which special flower offerings and rituals will take place daily. Sri Rama Navami will be observed by the celestial wedding ceremony of Lord Rama and Sita on March 27, followed by the final rites and coronation ceremonies on March 28.
Temple authorities said there will be special paid services for devotees for flower offerings at a cost of ₹ 2,500 per couple, which includes prasadam and special darshan.
