PV Anvar, former All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA and Kerala state convener, said the party’s state committee meeting held in Kochi on Monday (April 20, 2026) passed a resolution to sever all ties with the party’s national leadership and rebrand itself as a “secular, democratic and socialist political party (United Democratic Congress Party and United Democratic Front).
At a press conference after the State Committee meeting in Kalamassery, Mr. Anvar categorically stated that “all links with the TMC are severed with immediate effect” and that a new party would be formed by May 15.
