The indentation between traders on the Playam vegetables and Kozhikode Corporation over the transfer of the market to the Kalluthankadava market escalated on Tuesday, May 6, while merchants and workers took a march to the corporate office and picked it up. Hundreds took part in the march, which began in Palayam at 8am around 600 of them, was arrested and removed later.
The company’s step is expected to improve the equipment on the market and engage in overloading operation in Palayam.
The General District Secretary of Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi, V. Sunil Kumar, opened a picktting, while K. Rajeev, District President Intuc; NKC Basheer, District President of Stu; And VV Rajeev, District President of BMS, spoke at this event.

The Coordinating Committee claimed that they were ready to go to Kalluthancadav only if the company considered all parties involved.
The transfer of the market has been a sore since the company first designed ten years ago. The multi -storey market building on the banks of Conolly Canal in Kalluthancadav can accommodate more than 300 stores. However, the fact that it is a private enterprise and the required high rent was the main concern for the sellers. They also argued that the deviation from the Palayam bus stand would have an adverse impact on their business.
Mr. ABDU said that the committee is waiting for the company’s response to Tuesday’s protest and that their future procedure will depend on it.
