MANCHERIAL
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud hit out at the BJP and accused it of trying to polarize voters on religious grounds in every election.
He alleged in front of Congress functionaries in Mancherial town on Friday that the BJP was fueling divisive politics for electoral gains. The BJP-led government at the center has weakened public sector units and squeezed the land of counter-labour and farmers.
The BJP is resorting to “diversionary tactics” to cover up its failures and anti-people policies, he said, taking a dig at the saffron party, apparently referring to the upcoming elections in various states.
He lashed out at the BRS and accused the previous rulers of imposing a huge debt burden on the state. BRS is witnessing internal bickering over disputes over sharing of looted wealth, he charged.
Taking a dig at BRS working president KT Rama Rao, he said the previous BRS rulers had made “empty claims” about attracting investment to the state. “The Congress government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has secured huge investments in Telangana from foreign investors in the last two years,” he claimed.
Addressing a meeting in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, he said that nearly 70% of Congress district presidents in the state belong to SC, ST, BC and minority communities, reflecting the party’s commitment to social justice.
He argued that Congress has historically empowered Dalits, Tribals, SCs and BCs by giving them key positions and leadership roles.
Responding to questions on former minister Jeevan Reddy’s resignation, he said that Mr. Reddy had decided to quit the party despite persuasion. Claiming that there was virtually no effective opposition in Telangana, he argued that the BRS was a party rooted in exploitation and the BJP had no room to grow. “Where will Mr. Reddy go.
