The fisherfolk community in Rameswaram and nearby areas like Pamban, though alarmed by the recent arrests of fishermen by the Sri Lanka Navy, exercised their right at designated polling stations in Ramanathapuram constituency.
With a visible sign of helplessness and resignation, they cast their votes, believing that their democratic duty would bring relief to the long-standing problem of arrests and seizures.
