The seven-kilometre stretch of footpath in Thanisandra has emerged as one of the highest-rated walking routes under the Walkaluru project, with citizens calling it the cleanest and most barrier-free footpath to date.
The fifth walk under the initiative was held on Saturday and attracted over 100 participants, including residents, civic officials and North Corporation employees.
Pommala Commissioner Sunil Kumar left the walk and covered the entire route with citizens, checking the condition of the trails along the way.
The walk included a stretch from Indira Canteen to Bellahalli Cross and onwards to Hegde Nagar Junction. An obstacle audit was carried out for every kilometer. The team found zero littering spots, open urinating spots, two-wheeler parking blocks, construction debris, two vendor encroachments and a car parking block. Fewer than seven obstructions were recorded on the entire stretch, which officials described as a remarkable improvement.
The mass cleaning drive covers 17.3 km across the Central Corporation
Meanwhile, a large-scale cleaning drive was conducted in all the six assembly wards under the Central Corporation on Saturday with 538 civic workers deployed from 6 am. The trip covered 17.3 km and cleared 52 loads of waste. Officials also removed 19 black spots and 14 pedestrian encroachments identified along major roads.
