The TGSRTC Employees and Workers’ Federation (SWF) on Sunday called upon the corporation’s employees to participate in the nationwide strike on February 12 called by the central trade unions against what they called the Centre’s “anti-labour and anti-people” policies.
SWF official Veeranjaneyulu said the federation would coordinate with other unions and seek their participation. The union also plans to distribute pamphlets and posters and campaign by selling pamphlets on the new labor laws.
Meanwhile, the Joint Action Committee of the TGSRTC has called for a ‘Day of Struggle’ on January 20 and urged the government to fulfill the promises made to the employees of the transport corporation. Among the key demands are the merger of the corporation with the government, revision of wages and procurement of electric buses directly by the state.
The federation urged the Congress government to allow union elections and grant recognition. The workload of TGSRTC employees increased and they reminded the Congress leadership that union recognition was among its election promises.
