The Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TGSHRC) has taken cognizance of complaints against private schools allegedly collecting substantial portions of tuition fees in advance for the academic year 2026-27 and has recommended action against institutions indulging in such practices.
The commission, in an order dated April 28, was hearing a complaint filed by a resident of Boduppal in Medchal Malkajgiri district who alleged that the private school had collected 50% of the annual fee in March, a month before the academic session began. The complaint also raised concerns about schools demanding advance payments for books and uniforms, often without offering parents a choice of vendors.
