The teachers’ unions will hold successive agitations from March 10 to resolve the pressing issues

February 16, 2026

The Andhra Pradesh Teachers Federation (APTF) on Sunday (February 15, 2026) announced a phased agitation to resolve issues related to teachers and the education sector.

State President of the Federation Ch. Manjula and general secretary K. Basavalinga Rao said that although the teachers had high expectations from the coalition government, there was still no progress in solving their problems.

They accused the government of arbitrarily limiting the allowed leave and forcing teachers to work even on holidays, which they say is unacceptable. They warned that the introduction of inappropriate teaching methods in the name of achieving 100% pass rate in Class 10 examinations could lead to adverse consequences and alleged that although the teachers worked hard at the basic level, they were subjected to severe pressure and psychological stress from the officials.

They found fault with the decision to centralize the sanction of leave and said it was taken away from school principals and Mandal Education Officers (MEOs) and placed in the hands of higher authorities at the state level.

Elaborating on their protest plan, they said the APTF has called for a large-scale protest in New Delhi on March 10, demanding an exemption from the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for teachers appointed before 2010. From February 23 to 28, the federation will present statements to Members of Parliament urging them to raise the TET issue in Parliament and speak on behalf of teachers.

They said that dharnas would be organized on February 26 and 27 in all old taluk headquarters across the state to protest against the unilateral decisions of the education department officials and to support their demand for the immediate appointment of the chairman of the 12th Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and notification of interim reliefs. They said that in the second phase, a large-scale agitation would take place at the district and state levels in April.
