The Department of General Education issued a notification of a show of a show of the accused of providing corporal punishment to students to a government higher high school for girls, Cotton Hill.
General Minister of Education V. Sivankutta, who addressed the media on Sunday, said that the action was adopted on the basis of a report submitted by the District Educational Officer to the Director of General Education.
The incident occurred a few days ago when the teacher allegedly locked a group of class 9 students in the classroom and made them make seats as a punishment for leaving the room when the national anthem was played. The incident came to light when the students missed their buses on their return journey.
Mr. Sivanku said that the teacher had apologized immediately and was rebuked for her behavior. Employment of these incidents must not be repeated, called on the teacher to refrain from any forms of physical punishment and to call for such “primitive” practices.
The Minister, referring to the collapse of the composed walls at the Government Higher Elementary School, said before the day that the incident was under investigation. He ensured a thorough investigation and added any negligence by City Corporation to remove trees from the area.
Mr Sivanku said that teachers or parents should not be forced to raise funds for such infrastructure activities.
He also told media that he had to receive a report on the closure of eight government schools in Kanna. He ensured that the facts behind the closure would be published within one week, repeating the government’s obligation against the closure of public schools.
According to him, there is currently a detailed audit of students of students and the data would be published within two weeks. The government had no reservations about revealing such data, he said.
While the process of allocation in one seat is smooth, all the problems that persisted after the third round of the assignment will be solved in a suitable way, he said.
