The Tamil Nadu government has failed on several fronts, including protection of women, ensuring social justice, economic growth, education and welfare of government employees, said Tamilisai Soundararajan, former governor of Telangana.
She told the media in Coimbatore on Monday that women in Tamil Nadu have no protection. The state needs a change of power and there is now a culture war going on in the state. The state government’s focus on social justice is on the wane.
Pointing out that a Scheduled Caste woman serving as a temporary cook under the Chief Minister’s breakfast program was allegedly prevented from doing her work, she said such incidents were worrisome. While the Tamil Nadu government organizes conferences for women, it ignores the needs of nurses, teachers and conservation workers. Nurses during the protests pointed out that their fundamental rights were being violated, which was indicative of the state of governance in the state, she said.
Pointing out the credit burden of the Tamil Nadu government, Congress leader Praveen Chakravarty said that by paying ₹1,000 per month to women, the state government is increasing the credit burden of the people.
Anyone who criticizes the state government is labeled a “sanghi”. It is wrong to call anyone who celebrates culture, language and traditions as ‘sanghi’.
