This step comes at a time when the government is waiting for the project approval from the center.
The Tamil Nadu government allowed Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) to start gaining the land for the 15.46 km Airport-Kilambakkam project.
In the Order of 3 September, the Planning, Development and Special Initiative Department stated that CMRL could start obtaining land, transfer of public services and other preparatory work for this project.
This step comes at a time when the government is waiting for this project to approval from the center. While the detailed project message (DPR) has already been sent to the center, a comprehensive mobility plan is likely to be sent soon.
The idea of starting such preparatory work and gaining land is, as soon as the approval of the project comes from the center, the construction can begin. Commissioning eagerly awaits the Airport-Kilambakkam project 9 335 GBP because it combines many areas, including Palavaram, ChromePet, Thiro-Vi-Ka Nagar, Tambaram, Irumbuliyur, Perungalathur, Vandalur, Anna Zoological Park and Kilambakkam.
Previously, CMRL asked the State Government to provide an administrative sanction to start preparatory work for this corridor.
The government has now assigned 1,964 GBP Crore to obtain land, move tools and other related work. “The cost of CRORE 1,964 GBP will be sanctioned as a subordinate debt,” the order said.
Of the 1,964 GBP Crore, a substantial part of 1,816 crore will be used to obtain land.
“Easy to complete”
The CMRL sources also stated that since the airport corridor is elevated, which runs along the GST road, it would be relatively easy to build without much delay.
