The Tamil Government has changed the rules to prohibit discrimination based on claims in prisons and remedial institutions in the state. A substitutive introduced in the rules of Tamil Nadu prison, 2024 stated that manual cleaning or dangerous cleaning of the sewer or septic tank inside prison should not be carried out in accordance with the prohibition of employment as manual relief and their rehabilitation law of 2013.
At the time of the admission of the prisoner, the prison authorities should not ask and record and record any details of the prisoner caste according to the fresh sub -rule. No provision or column on caste prisoners should be maintained in any register or record. “It is strictly ensured that on the basis of their caste there is no discrimination or classification or segregation of prisoners,” the rules said.

The provision of employment prohibition as manual gadgets and their 2013 rehabilitation Act should have a binding effect in prisons and corrective institutions.

In October last year, the Supreme Court issued a judgment that ordered the Government of the Union and States to revise their relevant prison manuals and rules to deal with discrimination based on castles in prisons.
