The strike by contractual health workers enters its second day in Visakhapatnam

The indefinite strike of health and medical department contractual employees, organized by Andhra Pradesh Health and Medical Contract Employees Joint Action Committee (JAC), entered the second day on Wednesday.
Political representatives, employee organizations and trade union leaders visited the protest camp and expressed support for the workers’ demands, JAC officials said. MLC Kumbha Ravibabu demanded immediate regularization of all contractual employees, payment of 100% gross wages till regularization and ₹50 lakh ex gratia for the families of employees who died in service.
CITU State Secretary P. Mani and District Secretary RKSV Kumar demanded regularization and support for employees’ families.
The Andhra Pradesh Laboratory Technicians Association has said it will join the strike if the demands are not addressed. The JAC said representatives of sister associations and AP HAMSA also expressed support for the agitation.
