While some Hyderabadi families had already left for their hometowns on Friday evening, many stayed behind and wandered through the bustling markets looking for flowers, firecrackers, decorative lights and gifts. Many streets were lined with colorful carts selling marigolds, jasmine and brightly painted diyas, creating a mosaic of colors.
Popular shopping malls like Begum Bazar and Jambagh teemed with crowds from morning to night. Families walked through the narrow streets, balancing shopping bags and popping crackers with children in tow. Anticipating heavy footfall, traders have decorated their shops with rangoli, fairy lights and garlands.

The atmosphere was further enlivened by the smell of freshly made candy wafting through the streets, mingling with the chatter of excited shoppers. For many, Sunday was not just about shopping, but also about soaking in the Deepavali spirit, sharing smiles and participating in a city-wide celebration that marks the triumph of light over darkness.
