The National Economic Survey 2025-26 shows that India has entered a phase of strong economic recovery, with gross domestic product (GDP) growth rising to 7.4% from 6.5% in 2024-25.
Presenting a detailed comparison of national and country-wide trends at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday, Principal Secretary, Ministry of State Planning Piyush Kumar said India’s medium-term growth potential remains around 7%, supported by controlled inflation, robust investment and a stable banking sector.
Retail inflation during April to December 2025 was at a ten-year low of 1.7%. Agriculture, industry and services grew by 3.1 percent, 7.0 percent and 9.3 percent, respectively, while exports topped $825 billion. Infrastructure expansion and improved innovation ratings have further bolstered this outlook.
Focusing on Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Secretary noted that the state ranks 8th in India in terms of Gross Domestic Product (GSDP).
For 2025–26, Andhra Pradesh’s GSDP is estimated at ₹ 17.62 lakh crore, reflecting a growth of 10.75%, significantly higher than the national average.
The state recorded a growth rate of 9.88% at constant prices. By sector, agriculture and related activities grew by 10.14%, industry by 9.15% and services by 10.67%.
The state’s per capita income rose to ₹ 2.94 lakh, an increase of 10.43%.
Agricultural production posted notable gains with higher production of rice, maize and fish, while industrial growth was led by construction. However, the presentation highlighted concerns over fiscal indicators, including a revenue shortfall of ₹60,481 crore and a fiscal deficit of ₹85,269 crore, with national debt at 35% of GSDP and a relatively low own revenue ratio, he said.
The government closely monitors the performance of departments and districts through KPIs.
Under ‘Swarna Andhra Vision 2030’, Andhra Pradesh is targeting 15% annual growth, targeting a GSDP of ₹ 31 crore and a per capita income of ₹ 5.15 lakh, strengthening its long-term development plan, he added.
