Before the elections of the local authorities in 2025, citizens will receive one more opportunity to add their names to the voters’ list.
The State Election Commission will carry out one more summary revision of its election roles before the elections, said the State Election Commissioner A. Shajahan on Saturday on Saturday.
“We will repeat this process again before the elections. The final list published on 2 September would be used as a list of list for this purpose,” said Mr. Shajahan. The entire exercise will be carried out before the election announcement, he said, adding that the plan must still be completed.
1 January 2025 will remain the qualification date of the process, as the State Election Commission has only one qualifying date per year. It is expected that the revision is expected to take at least 22 days, including 15 days to apply for registration and repair after the proposal, followed by seven days for hearing.
The State Election Commission has the task of preparing election roles and elections to local authorities in the state. The final list published by the Commission 2. September contained 2,83,12,458 voters, including 1,49,59,59,235 women, 1,33,52 947 men and 276 transgender voters. Overseas voters numbered 2 087.
This final list contained 30,18,18,926 increments and 13 84 724 deletion in the proposal.
During the previous elections to local authorities, in 2020 in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, the first summary revision was carried out in June. This was followed by the second summary revision in October. This process is repeated this time.
Through the statement of the state government last year, the number of departments in grams, blocks and districts of Panchayats, municipalities and corporations increased from 21,900 to 23 612.
Meanwhile, the State Election Commission has to complete the decision to reduce the number of voters to the election cabin. For local public opinion polls, polling stations in Panchayats have a maximum of 1,300 voters and 1600 for a polling station in municipalities and corporations.
