
The state government has permitted the establishment of a sports school in Hanamkonda district from the academic year 2025-26 till a permanent facility is constructed. The school will operate temporarily from the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JNS) here with an intake of 40 boys and 40 girls for Class IV.
According to an official release by Telangana City Sports Authority (SATG) vice-chairman and managing director Sonibal Devi, the government has approved the proposal to set up the school on an interim basis until the necessary infrastructure is in place. The new institution will begin operations on November 14.
Admission to the school will be done through counseling to be held on November 5 for boys and November 6 for girls at JNS, Hanamkonda. The SATG has deputed officers and coaches to conduct counseling and coordinate with the District Youth and Sports Officer.
Hanamkonda District Sports Authority Collector and Chairman, Sneha Shabarish has been asked to provide necessary facilities and utilize available staff and coaches in various disciplines including athletics, gymnastics, wrestling, handball, volleyball, kabaddi, Kho-Kho, badminton, swimming, tennis and cricket without affecting their normal duties. Teachers for IV. class will be represented from the respective departments to support the academic component of the school.
