The Society of Indian Screen Editors was formed

The Society of Indian Screen Editors (SISE) was formed with film editor Bina Paul as its chairperson to bring together editors across regions, languages, generations and media to nurture the craft, foster creative exchange and build greater appreciation for the art of editing.

The film takes its final shape on the editing table. It is here that acting, rhythm, emotion and storytelling come together to create the ultimate cinematic viewing experience. Ms Paul said SISE aims to bring together screen editors from different regions and media to ensure dignity and respect for the craft of editing.

Editor Sreekar Prasad said the craft-oriented society strives to foster a sense of belonging and a shared pursuit of excellence among editors.

As part of this collective identity, members will use SISE as a suffix to their names in film credits, creating a professional identifier that will bring greater visibility to the company and the craft it represents.

The founding members include Ms. Paul, Mr. Prasad, Aarti Bajaj, Arghyakamal Mitra, Sujay Datta Ray, Subhajit Singha, Mahesh Narayanan, Namrata Rao, Irene Dhar Malik, Jabeen Merchant, Prerna Saigal, Sanjiv Shah, Manas Mittal and Shanshan Moham among others.

SISE plans to organize events and masterclasses, celebrating the work of leading and pioneering editors, honoring those who have shaped the craft across generations, and introducing students and cinephiles to the intricacies of the editing process.
