Siblings from Singampunari in Sivaganga district, arrested for gang-raping a college student in Coimbatore, figured in a history sheet prepared by the Coimbatore city police.
T. Karuppasamy, Alias Sathesh, 30, and T. Yesterday, AliasKarthik, 21, were among the 3,000 women on the list, which included local stories as well as those for other reasons.
“In case of local history records, they are being monitored by the concerned police station staff to monitor their activities. Like those from other districts, reports are sent to police stations in their native areas to keep an eye on them. The siblings gave their address as Singampunari when the Singanallur police booked them earlier this year. Hence, they were sent a report to be monitored by their Azere Co. Town Police Saravana Sundar.
They gave the address of their rented house at Irugur in Coimbatore when they were arrested in 2021 for murdering a watchman in Kinathukadavu police limits and robbing his wife of her chain. The case is at the stage of preliminary proceedings. A month ago, they were granted bail in a theft case at Sathyamangalam in Erode district.
A few days ago, the accused and their relative M. Guna, alias Thavasi (20) of Madurai district, stole a two-wheeler from the jurisdiction of the Kovilpalayam police station. The trio used a vehicle to reach a vacant plot adjacent to Brindhavan Nagar near Coimbatore Airport where they raped a college student on 2 November 2025.
Mr Sundar said Karuppasamy had four cases against him and Kaleeswaran five. “When historians commit new crimes, we will get the courts to revoke their bail in ongoing cases.”
