The department of the prohibition and excise duty has recorded more than 100 cases in the ongoing DHoolpet operation, which is a record in the history of the department.
Operation Dhoolpet started on July 17th, completed 250 days, during which a total of 102 cases were registered and confiscated 401 kilograms of Ganja. A total of 425 individuals were booked, with 327 sending to custody, 13 bound through and 85 escapes. The authorities also confiscated 147 mobile phones, 58 motorcycles and two cars as part of the operation.
The Ministry showed a dramatic 90% reduction in the sales of Ganja in Dhoolpet, for a long time as an epicenter of Ganja distribution in Hyderabad. A special enforcement unit was placed in Dhoolpet and regular raids reduced the sale of mass ganders to almost negligible levels.
When he spoke of progress, the director of VB Kamalasan Reddy said the operation would continue with intensive effort until the trade was completely removed. “Based on intelligence inputs, which have moved several perpetrators to other areas within the GHMC limits, a joint inspection with a state working group (STF) and other coercive teams are carried out,” he said.
