In the middle of heated debates on whether Karnataka should also eliminate the policy of three languages in education and decide for two language, like what Maharashtra has done recently and Tamil over the age of decades, the State Education Commission (SEP) recommended a politician in her report. The Commission is expected to submit its report to the State Government by the end of July.
It should be remembered that Minister Siddaramaiah has recently expressed support for two languages. It was also required by Karnataka Development Authority (KDA).
The Commission allegedly discussed comprehensively about pressure and children’s effects due to three languages, the number of students who failed in the third language-Hind-on-on the SSLC test, and the fact that third language or regional languages are not considered as exams in schools of central councils.
Purushottam Bilimale, chairman of Cannada Development Authority (KDA), said that the state government should also prove a commitment such as Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra of the Government on the execution of two languages.
He said it was a complex problem for every government headed by the National Party, because all national parties were Master Hindi. “We hope the state government shows its obligation,” he said.
He also stated that, as language policy has played an important role in the educational system, the Office would be waiting for the SEP Commission and then came to a suitable decision on the policy of two languages and issued its recommendation to the government.
The stand of private schools
Private school organizations, such as the related management of primary and secondary schools in Karnataka (KAMS), opposed the politics of two languages in the state education system.
“The government should not leave three languages for any reason. There should be an opportunity to learn third in schools.
“If the politics of three languages are abandoned and the state is introduced in the state’s policy of two languages, hundreds of schools in Urda, Tamil, Telugu and other media will be closed. Children will be deprived of rights to learn maternity,” he added.
