The Samiti calls for annual observance of Article 371(J) day in seven districts of Kalyana Karnataka

In a meeting convened by the Kalyana Karnataka Horata Samiti on Saturday, it was decided to observe Article 371(J) Day in seven districts of Kalyana Karnataka every year and organize a number of programs to create awareness about the constitutional provision.

The meeting, presided over by Samiti’s Honorary President Basavaraj Deshmukh, was attended by representatives of educational institutions, university officials, college principals, academicians, legislators and members of the Samiti.

Samiti founder and president Lakshman Dasti described the implementation of Article 371(J) as a major milestone in the development of the region. He said that this provision has helped safeguard educational and employment opportunities for the people of Kalyana Karnataka and suggested that its implementation be commemorated through special celebrations every year.

The proposal was unanimously approved by the participants. The meeting also decided to organize seminars and discussions in educational institutions to create awareness about the objectives, provisions and benefits of Article 371(J).

Shashil G. Namoshi, MLC, said that effective implementation of Article 371(J) requires continued efforts beyond political affiliation and emphasized the need for educational institutions to play a greater role in public awareness. He promised support for conducting seminars and academic programs on the subject.

BG Patil, MLC, suggested that universities and colleges organize programs highlighting the history of the Article 371(J) movement, the circumstances leading to its inclusion in the Constitution and its impact on the region.

Measures to strengthen implementation of Article 371(J) and wider development of Kalyana Karnataka were also discussed in the meeting. The participants demanded targeted administrative mechanisms to ensure effective implementation of development programs in the region.

The members of the Samiti emphasized the need to disseminate factual information about Article 371(J) and address misconceptions about the provision. They said awareness programs would help the public better understand its constitutional status and development goals.

The meeting resolved to form a committee headed by Mr. Deshmukh to coordinate seminars and outreach programs in colleges and educational institutions across the region. The first program is expected to be held soon followed by a series of events in various districts of Kalyana Karnataka region.
