Senior Kerala Congress leader PC Thomas on Monday demanded that the proposed Angamaly-Erumela Sabari railway project should be built on double tracks keeping in mind the greater benefits it is expected to bring to the nation. He said at least land should be acquired to meet the doubling requirements in future.
Mr Thomas was speaking to the media here on the backdrop of the latest development that has put the project back on track after long uncertainties over its implementation. Work on the railway line is expected to resume in due course, with the state government issuing a land acquisition notification following the state and central governments’ decision to share the cost of the project equally.
