
Railway Protection Force (RPF), Thiruvananthapuram Southern Railway Division, organized a women empowerment program titled ‘Celebration of Strength, Safety and Resilience’. The initiative was designed to empower women in the armed forces by increasing their professional skills, personal resilience and overall well-being – key attributes for effective policing in today’s dynamic environment.
Divyakant Chandrakar, Divisional Railway Manager, Southern Railway, Thiruvananthapuram inaugurated the event. RPF women employees who have shown exceptional dedication to passenger safety, reflecting the growing and critical role of women in railway security, were felicitated by Garima Chandrakar, President of Thiruvananthapuram Division Southern Railway Women’s Protection Organisation.
A practical part of self-defense for female personnel was also organized for the participants. More than 100 RPF officers and staff from various divisions of Southern Railway participated. Muhammed Haneef, Indian Railway Protection Service (IRPFS), Divisional Safety Commissioner, RPF Thiruvananthapuram welcomed the gathering. The program has been designed to create a space where they can think, learn and equip themselves to confidently face the evolving challenges of modern policing. Empowering women in uniform is not an option, it is necessary to build a more responsive, effective and future-ready force, Mr Haneef said.
The program also featured speakers including Ajeetha Begum, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Economic Offenses Branch; Indira Raveendran, Member, Kerala Women’s Commission; Shobha Jasmine, Chief Medical Superintendent, Railway Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram; Olympian KM Beenamol.
