Since the questions are still circling around Washington about the future of Tiktoku, the name of one potential suitor for the popular video application is constantly coming: Oracle.
On Tuesday, Oracle met Top Aides at Capitol Hill to talk about how the American technical giant, who processes and serves Tiktok user data, plans to work with the Chinese video application in the United States in the coming weeks.
The questions came when Tiktok stares at the 5th April of the Federal Act, which prohibits its distribution in the country if it is not sold to the non -Cinema owner. The owner of Tiktok is the Chinese Internet company DOVEDANCE and its Chinese ties has raised questions about whether the application represents the threat of national security in the United States.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the assistants also raised the topic of Oracle involved in the operation of Tiktoku, after a recent report by Politico that the company was talking to the White House on the agreement, one of the people said. The helpers searched for Oracle that any agreement would adhere to the law.
The meetings required by the helpers included employees from the Communist Party Commission for the Chinese Communist Party, the spokesman of Mike Johnson and the Commission for Energy and Trade in the House, two people with knowledge of the meeting said.
Tiktok faces another political move over his future. In January, President Trump delayed the enforcement of a law that would ban Tiktok from the United States, which underwent a congress with bipartisan support and the Supreme Court was unanimously observed. Mr. Trump promised to conclude an agreement for the application for the protection of national security, and in February tapped the Vice -President of JD Vance to find an arrangement to save it.
Oracle is a natural candidate that is part of the Tiktok Agreement. The company is already a technological partner of Tiktok in the United States and the offer for the application when Mr. Trump in his first term of office tried to enforce the sale from the Statedance.
The White House, not Congress, ultimately decides whether the Tiktoku Agreement can continue. It is not clear whether Oracle is currently interested in the application. Tiktok and Oracle refused to express themselves. The White House also did not answer immediately to the request for comment.
As the deadline of 5th April, Republican legislators and other Chinese hawks who supported the law, they expressed concern that Tiktok and Feddings could try to conclude an agreement with Trump’s administration that would maintain Chinese influence and its powerful algorithm.
The legislators claim that an agreement that does not meet the requirements of the law shall undermine national security and can lead to legal disputes for shareholders against technology companies that distribute and host tiktok in the United States.
“The law is clear: any agreement must eliminate Chinese influence and control over the application to protect our interests,” wrote John Moolenaar, a Republican, who leads to China’s house on Tuesday, wrote in the column of opinion in the column of opinion National overview. He said he was “determined to ensure that any agreement with Tiktok would meet the clear legal requirements set by Congress”.
Mr. Vance said last week NBC News that by April 5, “there will almost be a high -level agreement that I think is meeting our concerns about national security, allowing a distinct US company Tiktok.”
This month, Mr. Trump said that while he was optimistic that the tiktok would conclude an agreement before the deadline, the term was opened.
Larry Ellison, co -founder of Oracle and the Chief Technology Director, joined Mr. Trump to announce in January about the initiative of an artificial intelligence of $ 100 billion. At the event Mr. Trump said that Elon Musk or Oracle could buy tiktok and emphasized his “right to conclude an agreement”.
Mr Trump’s pause, in enforcing the law, raised questions about whether the President follows the rule of law or stretches the boundaries of executive power. Some experts said that the conflict is the beginnings of the constitutional crisis.
Tiktok argued for at least a year that the sale of the company would not be impossible, partly because the Chinese government would not allow the export of the algorithm of Tiktok Algoritham.
