In what has been considered the largest round of Microsoft’s layout since 2023, the technical giant has released approximately 6,000 employees – closed approximately 3% of its global labor force. Among the affected people is Gabriela de Queiroz, director of AI in Microsoft for Startups. De Queiroz, when he got on X (formerly Twitter), shared “Bittersweet News” and thought about the experience.
“Bittersweet News to be shared: I was hit by Microsoft’s last round,” she wrote. According to her profile LinkedIn, De Queiroz joined Microsoft in 2022 as the main cloud and moved to the director of the AI role in 2023.
In the subsequent post, she expressed sadness over the scope of the dismissal and noted: “So many talented people I had the honor of working with (they) by passing. They are people who deeply care, went above and behind and really changed.”
De Queiroz, describing in detail how the release was released, revealed, “We were asked to stop working immediately and stand out of the office. But I decided to stay a little longer-I have to say goodbye, wrap what I can.
Despite the sudden end, De Queiroz mediated the optimistic outlook. “I’m in my heart optimist. That hasn’t changed. My smile, my gratitude, my belief that every day is a gift – that’s still here,” she said.
She concluded her post with the Solidarity report for others who lost their jobs: “For those who were also affected – you are not alone. We are at least 6,000.”
The layoffs come in the middle of a wave of labor reduction across the technology industry, as companies continue to restructify and repeat post-pandemic growth strategies. Microsoft has to publish an official statement on the latest round of cuts.
