Student II. class from Annamayya District Government Primary School secured second place in the national Spelling Bee held on April 22 in Mumbai.
District Collector Nishant Kumar on Monday congratulated student B. Shailesh Goud (7) on the Collectorate and later worked with him to assess his spelling skills.
Shailesh, a student of Government Primary School at Veligall in Peddamandyam mandal, had earlier secured the first position in the district, zonal and national competitions before qualifying for the national event.
The Collector said Shailesh’s success reflected the potential of students studying in rural government schools and attributed the success to the boy’s efforts and guidance from his coach and class teacher B. Madhukar Reddy.
District Education Officer (DEO) K. Subrahmanyam and officials of the Education Department also participated in the programme.
