A sudden downpour on Sunday cast many parts of the Velore district and neighboring cities such as Ambur, Vaniyambadi, Arani, Gudiyatham, Chengam, Polur and Jolarpet.
The rain, which lasted more than an hour in the capitals covering the Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur and Tiruvannamei districts, brought the residents much needed relief because the temperature reached more than 35 degrees Celsius.
Frequent power slices have been reported in many areas of these districts due to strong winds. Areas like Arani, Jamunamarathur (Jawadhu Hills), Polur, Tiruvannamalai Town, Kilpennathur and Thandarampattu in the Tiruvannamei district received good precipitation. There were areas like Pernambut, Gudiyatham, Katpadi, Vellore Old Town, Bagayam and Satuvachari witnesses of sudden showers.
The capitals such as Arcot, Walaiah, Arakkonam, Sholinghur received mild showers. Tirupattur, Natrampalli, Alangayam, Madhanur and Jolarpet have witnessed strong winds with mild rain.
