The qualifiers for the Los Angeles Cricket Olympics will be held in January-February 2028

The qualifiers for the Los Angeles Cricket Olympics will be held in January-February 2028, according to a media report.

According to ‘Cricinfo’, the window for both the men’s and women’s qualifiers “appears in the list of global events that the ICC shared with its member boards following the October meetings in Dubai.”

It also said that the World Test Championship 2029 final will be held in England from June 8 to 12.

“A total of 12 men’s, seven women’s and five under-19 events (including qualifiers) are currently scheduled between the 2027 and 2031 ODI World Cups.

“While several marquee events have already been finalized by the ICC in 2021, several tournaments have now been allocated dates, although some dots remain to be connected,” the report said.

Cricket would return to the Olympics after more than 100 years in the 2028 games.

Australia, India, South Africa and Great Britain have already qualified for the women’s event as the highest-ranked teams from their respective continents based on their performance at the T20 World Cup earlier this year.

In the men’s competition, the four best teams on December 31 this year from Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania will advance.

The host USA was declared eligible for both the men’s and women’s events if they finished in the top 15 during the qualification period from June 30, 2026 to December 31, 2026.

“If the host (USA) does not meet the ranking criteria by December 31, 2026, this spot will be reallocated based on the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 ranking (deadline March 1, 2027),” Cricinfo quoted ICC as saying to member nations in October.

Each qualifier will feature eight countries that will be finalized by the ICC based on the international rankings.
