The Punjab Kings meme game fails after the Rajasthan team roasts after reaching the playoffs
The Punjab Kings game went down on social media on Sunday after Rajasthan Royals sealed the fourth spot in the playoffs and eliminated the Shreyas Iyer-led side from the playoffs on Sunday, May 24. Rajasthan defeated Mumbai Indians in their last match of the league stage at the Wankhede Stadium to seal the last play-off spot in the Indian Premier League.
The Punjab Kings, who have been facing a lot of heat in the cricket circles for the outrageous use of their social media handle, have been trolled by Rajasthan one after the other. advanced to the playoffs on Sunday.
Rajasthan picks up on Punjab’s tweet: ‘Sorry bhai, aaj nahi!’ and responded to him with the famous Arjun Kapoor meme. Rajasthan used a viral video clip where Arjun can be seen stuck behind the door while the rest of the guests enter the house. Rajasthan took the mickey from Punjab who were eliminated on the very last day of the league stage after Rajasthan finished one point ahead of them in the IPL table.
MEMES HAUNT PUNJAB KINGS
But why did Rajasthan choose to answer ‘Sorry bhai, aaj nahi!’ tweet from punjabi?
As it turns out, Punjab’s tweet came in response to Rajasthan Royals’ loss against Delhi Capitals on May 1. Punjab decided to troll Rajasthan in a match they didn’t even participate in as Rajasthan made a joke at Punjab’s expense after defeating the Shreyas Iyer-led side earlier this season.
Rajasthan quoted Salman Khan’s 2014 viral tweet on X (formerly Twitter) where the megastar asked, “Zinta’s team won kya?”

Rajasthan used this tweet while posting a video of Donovan Ferreira winning their match against PBKS on 29 April. Rajasthan wrote on the post: Hang on…”Sorry bhai, aaj nahi!”
PUNJAB KINGS SOCIAL MEDIA CONTROVERSY
Punjab Kings have been embroiled in several controversies this season. Their aggressive social media strategy has been repeatedly called toxic by fans. Many believe that the backlash against Punjab’s online behavior is justified, given the tone they have taken towards other teams.
Apart from trolling Rajasthan, Punjab were condescending towards Kolkata Knight Riders after their match at the rain-affected Eden Gardens. At the time, Punjab were winning consistently and looked set for a comfortable play-off qualification. After the match ended, the Punjab team posted a dance video on social media suggesting that they were “generous” by “donating” one point to the Ajinkya Rahane-led side.
Ironically, that point came back to haunt Punjab on Sunday as they finished with 15 points, one behind Rajasthan Royals’ 16 points in the IPL standings.
And that was perhaps the biggest reminder of this year’s IPL season – in a tournament as ruthless as the IPL, it’s not just the on-field performance that counts, but the off-field behaviour.
