Deputy Minister and Minister of Development Bengalur DK Shivakumar announced on Monday that the long -awaited permanent project supplying drinking water for the southern district of Bengaluru is scheduled to complete by December 2025.
Shivakumar spoke to reporters after the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone near the sattegal reservoir and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfill the reconnaissance promise that was Channapatna during the lyy.
The aim of the 540 GBP-CRORE project is to provide drinking water for arid talkes Ramanagara, Kanakapura, Channaatna and Magadi-regions are struggling with persistent water deficiency and irregular rainfall. “We supply 3.3 TMCFT water at nominal costs. This project has been conceptualized during my earlier operation as Minister of Water Resources. Today I have reviewed progress and asked for the reasons for the delay,” said Mr. Shivakumar.
Mr. Shivakumar conducted a discussion with officials and representatives of Megha Engineering, companies based in Hyderabad and emphasized early completion. He replied to fears of land acquisition and assured fair compensation to farmers whose land is announced for obtaining.
