
The Yadgir city police have arrested four accused in connection with a case registered after a social welfare department employee was brutally attacked by gun-wielding assailants near the Green City area of Yadgir city on Wednesday.
Sources said Kashinath, Jagadish, Yallappa and Dattatreya have been booked in connection with the case. A further investigation has been launched.
Earlier, the Yadgir city police recorded the statement of Sarojamma Bailappa Kambanor, the mother-in-law of the victim, as the injured Anjali was not in a condition to give a statement as she was receiving medical treatment in the ICU of a private hospital.
The police then registered a case against Shankara, Vijaya and six others under Section 189(2), 191(2), 189(2), 191(2), 191(3), 118(1), 118(2), 109,190 of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita 2023.
According to the FIR, Anjali, working at the social welfare department in Yadgir, was brutally attacked by gun-toting assailants. The attackers intercepted her car as she headed to her office near Green City. The attack was motivated by enmity, the FIR said, citing the complainant.
Currently, Anjali is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Hyderabad after being shifted from a private hospital in Kalaburagi. Her condition is listed as critical.
