The New Year celebrations, which were set to begin on Wednesday evening, saw senior police officials carry out a final security and crowd control check in the city’s central business district, including MG Road and Church Street.
Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) carried out inspections to review bandobast, CCTV coverage, traffic diversions, parking facilities, lighting and roadblocks in preparation for the countdown to the New Year.
The inspection was led by DCP Central Division, Akshay M. Hakay and DCP West Division, Traffic Anoop Shetty, who reviewed the arrangements and verified that security measures were in place as per the approved deployment map.

The police have installed over 360 CCTV cameras in the immediate area and around 6,000 more cameras are deployed across the city. A command and control center has also been set up to monitor the celebrations in real time.
Police ordered pubs and bars to close by 1am. Besides, 50 flyovers across Bengaluru will be closed as part of the traffic measures.
