
On Monday, PM Narendra Modi chaired the meeting of the CBI director’s appointment, which was also attended by Rahul Gandhi and the main judge of India Sanjiv Khanna.
The meeting concerned the discussion of the appointment of another CBI director and took place in the office of the Prime Minister in Nový Delhi.
According to reports, the current CBI director, Poe Sood, is likely to receive an annual extension. SOOD is set to complete its term of office 25 May.
The Committee responsible for the selection of CBI director includes the Prime Minister, the main judge of India and the leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha. The director is appointed for two years, which can be extended to a maximum of five years.

Pooleen SOOD, from 1986-the Indian Police Services (IPS) from Karnataka cadre and former Chief of the State Police, took over the accusations of the Central Office for the investigation in May 2023, followed by Subodh Kumar Jaiswal.
The current CBI director worked in various important positions during his long tenure for about 37 years in IPS.
Poe Sood worked as a advisor to the government of Mauritius. CBI Director’s eligibility
According to the 2019 Supreme Court Directive, officers with less than six months do not have the remaining services to be assessed as a CBI director. The court also ordered that the possession of the director must be at least two years and that any transfer can only take place with the approval of the appointment committee.
In addition, the 2003 Central Vigilance Act formally determined a fixed two -year period for CBI directories.
