
In a crackdown on narcotics-related offences, the Andhra Pradesh government has invoked the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act against a woman offender in Guntur district, the first such case involving a woman, police said on Friday (24 Apr 2026).
According to a press release issued by Guntur District Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal, the action was taken against Valluri Nagamani, 26, a resident of Tadepalli town. She was allegedly involved in the repeated illegal purchase, storage, transportation and sale of ganja. Four cases are registered against her and over 5 kg of ganja has been seized in connection with these crimes, he added.
