Bangalore South Member of Parliament LS Tejasvi Surya on Monday hinted that the elevated Pink Line of the Namma Metro is likely to be inaugurated on the 13th.
Referring to X, the lawmaker wrote “November 13” with the hashtag #PinkLine, suggesting an opening. However, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) sources said they have not yet received a communication from the Prime Minister’s Office.
Last week, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said the line is likely to be commissioned by mid-November. The state government was waiting for the Union government to give a date when their representative would be available for the inauguration.
The elevated Pink Line is 7.5 km long and covers six stations including Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM-B, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere.
The 7.5 km stretch, which is ready for inauguration, is part of the 21.3 km Pink Line. The operational network of Namma Metro will expand from the current 96.10 km to 103.60 km after opening.
The remaining 13.8 km of the Pink Line is an underground passage. The underground section will connect Dairy Circle with Tannery Road via MG Road and Shivajinagar. When the line is fully operational, it will connect the southern part of the city with the central part, making travel easier for many office visitors.
