What did DGCA say?
Aviation Watchdog said the General Directorate for Civil Aviation (DGCA) that the flight was diverted due to suspicion of weather radar disorder.
“The crew noted that weather information shown on the weather was not accurate, the weather suspicion of a radar disorder diverted to Chennai,” said the regulator, adding that no deficiency was observed during the engineering inspection, but as a preventive measure, “WX radar transreceiver was replaced.”
In her statement, DGCA said that the aircraft, with the ATC check -in, orbited 25 naval miles northeast of Chennai for 43 minutes from 21:25 to 22:08 hours to prevent overweight and burn more fuel.
“After the aircraft was cleaned for the 25 in Chennai, the aircraft was instructed at 22:19 to ensure that the missing access, as the outgoing GULF Air GFA053 (Chennai-Bahrain) reported the debris on the left side of the track.

A political stir compared to a flight diversion
Congress Head of KC Venugopal, who was on Air India, which diverted to Chennai, claimed that the flight was “terribly approaching the tragedy”.
Venugopal, who is also chairman of the Parliamentary Public Committee for Public Accounts and former Minister of Civil Aviation, said:
In his paper X, the politician said, “We were saved by skill and happiness” and that the safety of passengers cannot depend on happiness.
“I invite @dgcaindia and @Moca_goi to resent this incident, correct their responsibility and ensure that such lunges will never happen again,” he added.
This caused a political commotion, with the head of the IT BJP department AMIT Malviya said on Monday that if Venugopal claims that Air India had to interrupt the landing in Chennai, because another aircraft was on the track and the airline immediately contradicts it, then one of them is a used fact.
Malviya said it was very serious.
“If the leader of the Congress leader KC Venugopal claims that Air India had to interrupt the landing in Chennai, because another aircraft was on the track and the airline immediately contradicts him, then one of them distorts the facts.”
“The safety of aviation is paramount and social media contributions from allegedly responsible people cannot be not shortened. If the accusation is true, Chennai ATC and Air India have something to answer.
