Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha marked a truly historic and deeply emotional moment for Andhra Pradesh and the recognition of Amaravati as the only capital of Andhra Pradesh (Praja Rajadhani) reflects the aspirations of the people.
In a message to X, Mr. Naidu expressed his sincere gratitude to the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for its decision to provide capital (by amending the AP Reorganization Act, 2014).
Mr. Naidu also thanked every party and Member of Parliament who supported the bill and said it was heartening to witness unity across party lines in support of Andhra Pradesh and recognition of the sacrifices made by farmers and hoped the bill would gain support in the Rajya Sabha.
Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan congratulated the people on the occasion of passing the AP Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and said it was a defining moment in the history of AP. The declaration of Amaravati as the sole and permanent capital of AP is a testament to the will, resilience and aspirations of the people, he observed.
He expressed his respect and gratitude to the farmers of the Amaravati region for making an unprecedented sacrifice by donating over 33,000 acres of land and termed it an act of faith that will be remembered for generations.
Mr. Kalyan also appreciated the visionary leadership of Mr. Naidu and said his unwavering commitment laid the foundation for Amaravati and expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the NDA government for their continued support in making the people’s dream a reality.
The passage of the AP Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2026 has instilled renewed confidence among the people as well as industrialists and investors, he noted, adding that Amaravati will now stand not only as a capital but as a symbol of hope and collective resolve, he added.
IT & HRD Minister Nara Lokesh said that the passing of AP Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2026 made him extremely happy and it was a historic moment. He said that the AP Legislative Assembly had earlier passed a unanimous resolution designating Amaravati as the capital and the passage of the above bill had made the five million people of AP extremely happy.
He expressed gratitude to the central government and the parties who supported the move to give the much-needed legal sanctity to Amaravati as the only capital of AP and said it was a victory for the people of AP.
BJP state president PVN Madhav expressed gratitude to the central government for introducing a bill in the Lok Sabha officially declaring Amaravati as the capital, terming it a major milestone in the development of the state.
Noting that the bill was a permanent and long-term solution to the capital dispute, he hoped that the planned development of Amaravati would turn AP into a major economic hub, attracting investment and creating large-scale employment opportunities.
Thanking Mr. Modi for his support and guidance towards comprehensive development of the state, Mr. Madhav said coordination between the central and state governments will accelerate the pace of the state’s progress.
