
Two other persons-three-month-old and forty-year-old man-in the Kozhikode district were diagnosed with primary amoebic meningoencephalitis.
According to the sources of the health department, treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode is undergoing right now. They were hospitalized a few weeks ago with symptoms of fever. Anaya, 9, a native of Thamarassery in the district, died of infection a few days ago. Although some of her relatives were also hospitalized by symptoms of fever, all were released.
Meanwhile, healthcare workers gathered samples from watercourses near these persons in an effort to find out the source of infection. The health department urged people to avoid swimming in ponds and stagnating and unhygienic water resources.
