The day after the government of Donald Trump abolished the authority of the University of Harvard to register foreign students, his President Alan Garber issued a sincere statement for these students.
In a statement published on Friday, Garber also condemned the “unlawful and unfounded” event of Trump’s administration and said it gives the future of thousands and scientists across the Harvard University.
“We condemn this illegal and unfounded event. It increases futures of thousands of students and scientists across Harvard and serves as a warning for countless others at universities and universities across the country who have come to America to devote themselves to their education and fulfill their dreams,” he said.
The Harvard President, who called foreign students affected on Thursday by “vital members of the school community”, said the university would support them.
“For those foreign students and scientists affected by yesterday’s event, you know that you are vital members of our community. You are our classmates and friends, our colleagues and mentors, our partners at the work of this great institution,” his statement read.
“Thanks to you, we know more and understand more and our country and our world are more enlightened and resistant. We will support you because we do our best to ensure that Harvard will remain open to the world,” he added.
Harvard University sues Donald Trump Administration
Formerly on Friday, the University of Harvard sued Trump’s administration on its decision to cancel the ability of the Ivy League school to include foreign students.
In his statement, Alan Garber dealt with development and said they were pushing the proposal to a temporary restriction order.
“We have just filed a complaint and a proposal for a temporary restriction order will follow. When we monitor legal means, we will do everything we can to support our students and scholars. The Harvard International Office will provide regular updates as soon as new information is available,” Garber said.
In a complaint filed at the Federal Court in Boston Harvard, he described the abolition of “obvious violations” of the US Constitution and other federal laws and had a “immediate and devastating effect” on the university and more than 7,000 visas holders.
“With the stroke, the government tried to erase a quarter of Harvard’s student body, international students who significantly contribute to the university and its mission,” Harvard said.
“Harvard Harvard is not without his international students,” added the 389 -year -old school.
