“Almost a quarter of people in the professional market may be out of work by 2027. These 25% will have to think about their new domains,” said Binay Kumar Das, Director General (Electronics and Communication Systems), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).
In his address on Saturday at the fifth annual meeting of Dr. Manmohan Singh of Bengaluru City University said, “The new generation may have to change their career at least three or four times.” Therefore, one must embrace change and always be ready to adapt again, he added.
“Tectonic shifts are happening everywhere. Artificial Intelligence (Al), Machine Learning, Blockchain as the Next Internet, Augmented Reality, Internet of Things, Metaverse and Web 3.0 are the buzzwords of today. Chat GPT is ready to rule the tech world. In this situation, be ready for change. You have to adapt to change and move forward,” he said.
He further said that India was tipped to become the third largest economy and to take India to that level, we need to change our mindset. “We need to increase our exports. We need to design our products with such excellence that they become the object of desire of everyone around the world. We need to do smart work rather than hard work,” he said. “To get there, we will have other challenges in terms of transport, pollution, energy issues, sustainability and so on. But the real value of our education system would be to overcome these challenges and take India to the top,” he said.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot said the role of youth is crucial to achieve the national goal of making India a developed country by 2047. “If the youth is equipped with knowledge, skills, values and national spirit, India will surely achieve a prominent position in the global community,” he said.

A total of 37,393 degrees were awarded, including 64 gold medals. A total of 71 students secured degrees, 23 students were awarded PhDs, 7,484 postgraduate degrees and 29,880 undergraduate degrees.
Higher Education Minister MC Sudhakar could not attend the convocation. Sources said he was busy campaigning for the bypolls.
