Public Works Minister EV Velu on Sunday inspected the construction of the integrated collector complex at Veeracholapuram and urged the officials to expedite the project so that it is completed by the end of November.
The collectorate is being built at an estimated cost of ₹139.41 crore.
The eight-storey collectorate complex is spread over 35.18 acres and will house at least 40 departments, including revenue, rural development, animal husbandry, agriculture, welfare, labour, tourism and Hindu religious and charitable foundations.
Three separate halls have been constructed for conducting review meetings, weekly grievance redressal meetings and for distribution of welfare measures to the beneficiaries.
The complex will also include separate cabins for officials of various departments, a conference room equipped with LED lights and CCTV cameras. The Collector’s office will be on the third floor.
The project has reached its final stage with only 5% of the work pending and steps are underway to complete the remaining work by the end of November. Chief Minister MK Stalin will declare the Collectorate complex open next month, the minister said.
District Collector MS Prasanth and senior officials were present on the occasion.
