Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call and in line with the initiative taken by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy became the first to introduce the same at his level.
Mr Reddy, who has planned a program to attend the inauguration of 168 development projects worth ₹17 crore in his constituency on Friday (May 15), reached the venue on a two-wheeler.
Wearing a helmet and riding a personal electric scooter, the lawmaker started from his residence and drove to the venue, more than 6 km away, to attend the event. He shortened his visits to other places as part of austerity measures.
It may be recalled that Mr. Sridhar Reddy had already given up his escort vehicle and convoy immediately after the Prime Minister’s appeal to reduce fuel expenditure.
