The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in Andhra Pradesh is marching into 2026 with the aim of further cementing welfare-led growth and sustainable development after making significant gains in 2025 by successfully balancing people-oriented welfare initiatives with rapid economic and industrial development.
According to data from government sources, the government has termed 2025 as a landmark year by fulfilling most of its election promises and winning the trust of the people through inclusive governance.
During 2025, the government implemented its flagship Super Six social programs with remarkable success. For Talliki Vandanam, ₹10,090 crore was directly credited to mothers’ bank accounts, benefiting 67.27 crore students.
The Stree Shakti scheme proved to be one of the most popular initiatives, with free bus travel for women launched on 15 August. So far, 3.25 million trips have been recorded at a cost of ₹1,144 crore, earning widespread appreciation from women. Later, the benefit was extended to persons with disabilities.
Farmers received support under Chief Minister Kisan-Annadat Sukhibhav, with ₹6,310 crore credited to 46 million farmers. Through the Deepam-2 programme, three LPG cylinders were provided free of cost to women annually, entailing an expenditure of ₹2,684 crore and the distribution of nearly two million cylinders.
Social security pensions crossed the historic milestone of over ₹50,000 crore in 2025. Under Matsyakara Bharosa, fishermen were supported, auto drivers received direct financial assistance and welfare measures were extended to minorities, priests, weavers, upholsterers, goldsmiths and budding lawyers.
Job creation also remained a priority. The government has conducted Mega DSC, hired 15,491 teachers and completed recruitment of 5,757 police constables, while increasing stipends and extending gratuity to Anganwadi and ASHA workers.
The restoration of Anna Canteens has strengthened food security and 204 canteens have served more than four million meals across the state.
In terms of development, Andhra Pradesh led the country in attracting investment during 2025. The CII-Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam resulted in 610 MoUs worth ₹13.25 crore, with the potential to create more than 16 million jobs.
The IT and AI sectors have been expanding rapidly, including the proposed establishment of a Google AI data center in Visakhapatnam. Capital construction in Amaravati gained momentum with investments exceeding ₹50,000 crore, while reforms in infrastructure, irrigation, power, healthcare and governance contributed to strong economic growth of 11.28%.
Crime dropped with tougher enforcement and the establishment of the Eagle Drug Task Force. The state has witnessed improved governance through WhatsApp governance and data-driven decision-making.
The government has prepared a tri-regional master plan for the development of all the three regions – Visakhapatnam, Amaravati and Tirupati. During the year, the government managed to revive about 90 central schemes, provided support for the Visakhapatnam steel plant and attracted the semiconductor industry, expanded highway and railway projects. Two new districts were approved, bringing the total number of districts to 28 from the existing 26.
As prosperity and development move in tandem, the government has now outlined ambitious priorities for 2026, including addressing revenue challenges, ensuring dispute-free land for farmers, expanding social security, boosting wealth creation and accelerating industrial growth.
With enhanced welfare delivery, record investment and improved governance, the coalition government will enter 2026 with renewed confidence to drive inclusive growth and sustainable development across Andhra Pradesh, the report said.
