The National Motorway Protection Council took a long march and on Thursday watched Hartal in Deviculat Taluk and demanded that “unlawful interventions” by forest departments that prevented an expansion of 14.5 km Neriamangalam-Elara-Adimaly.
According to the organizers, the long march was eliminated from Munnam Mile in Vara to the office of Neriamangalam Forest Range. Kothamangalam diocese Vicar General Payas Maathikanrathil launched a public meeting in Neriamangalam. The chairman of the Chairman of the Baby Council chaired the meeting.
The General Coordination Coordination Coordination Committee for the Rasak Chooravel motorway said thousands of people joined the protest march.
After the HC order
Recently, the Kerala High Court issued an order restricting works to extend the roads and the felling of trees to 14.5 km Neriamangalam-Elara-adimaly Stretch in Kochi-Dhanushkodi National Highway after the petition filed by the ecologist Idukkim Mn Jayacandrán. “Based on the High Court’s order, the work on the expansion of roads was stopped.
Meanwhile, the Kothamanghalamic diocese of the Syro-Malabar church took a protest march in Neriamangalam on Thursday and demanded the restoration of the expansion of Vara-Rieiangalam. “The journey is the main way to connect the district with Ernaculam and people depend on the road for hospitals, employment and study. The government should take immediate steps to restore construction work on the section,” the protesters said.
