Ahead of the New Year celebrations, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) Narcotics Control Branch arrested a Nigerian national and a delivery leader and seized narcotics worth ₹2.5 million in two separate operations in the city.
Officials arrested 45-year-old Christopher at Soladevanahalli police station and seized 1 kg and 70 g of MDMA crystals, 60 ecstasy pills, ₹2,000 in cash, one mobile phone and a laptop. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be ₹2.25 crore.
Police said the accused had come to India last year on a business visa and was procuring MDMA at low prices allegedly from foreign nationals based in Delhi and Mumbai. He was preparing to deliver drugs to known customers during the New Year celebrations.
On investigation, it was found that the accused was involved in drug trafficking earlier and a case under the Narcotic and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against him at the Soladevanahalli police station earlier. He was then taken into judicial custody. After his release, he is said to have resumed his activities in the field of drug smuggling.
Delivery leader arrested in Bandepalya
In another operation conducted in Bandepalya police station limits, the CCB arrested Naveen Raj (26), an interstate drug dealer, and seized 100 strips of LSD, 5 g of cocaine and a mobile phone used in the crime. The value of the seized contraband is ₹25 crore.
The accused, a native of Tamil Nadu, worked as a delivery man for an online commercial company and also sold drugs. Police said he used LSD strips and cocaine from unknown people at lower prices and sold them at higher prices to known customers.
